The name Shahsavan means king's defender and refers to a nomadic tribe that guards one of Iran's most remote and vulnerable borders with Azerbaijan, where the country borders Russia and Turkey. This tribe is famous for weaving pile carpets, but the most famous are their kelims, which are made with a special technique similar to embroidery, with diagonal stitches of colored wool. How to care for a wool rug?
